about us

about us

caravan is a three-day showcase of site specific, interactive and incidental performance presented as part of Brighton Festival. The curated programme features England’s most exciting artists from established international names to the brightest new talent.
caravan is a convivial event designed to encourage artists, commissioners, programmers and potential collaborators to explore new ways of working together, to share ambitions and to reach new audiences. We are able to host 60 international and national delegates – providing hotel accommodation and/or a contribution to international travel.

There are three strands to the programme:

training symposium

Open to all England-based theatre makers.

Training including seminars, breakout groups and one-to-one sessions on all aspects of international touring, residencies and funding.

mentoring

Open to the caravan companies.

Mentoring sessions in the form of face-to-face meetings, telephone conversations and email correspondence. These sessions are aimed at preparing companies to make the most of the opportunities that will arise from the showcase.

the showcase

The next caravan showcase takes place as part of the Brighton Festival in May 2014. A series of full shows, pitches and networking sessions are presented to an invited audience of international and national promoters.

caravan is delivered by Farnham Maltings and Brighton Festival with the ambition of
increasing the national and international profile of England’s artists.
