message from directors

“Our ambition is to support artists to work and think internationally. To consider our place in the world and what is unique about the contemporary theatre being made in England. We have created a programme of training and showcasing as informal events in which conversations between artists and presenters can happen, new alliances form and new ways of working explored. We have also begun to build strong and evolving relationships with festivals around the world that share our ambitions which has led to us showing programmes of work in Vancouver and Brisbane. Making this happen has required an enormous amount of effort, trust and care from a huge range of individuals and partner organisations who share an affection for the idea that if we share our art we might make the world that bit happier, healthier, safer.”

Gavin Stride, Director of caravan and Director of Farnham Maltings

Farnham Maltings is a creative organisation that works with artists and communities across the south east to encourage the greatest number of people to make, see and enjoy the best art possible.

“Brighton Dome & Festival is looking forward to leading on this exciting project alongside Farnham Maltings. Great theatre and performance is at the heart of what we do at Brighton Festival and Brighton Dome, so we’re especially proud to host caravan during Brighton Festival, showcasing the best work from across England. caravan 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 attracted interest from all over the world; with caravan 2018 and a curatorial group behind it that is second to none; I am confident presenters will flock to Brighton to see the work we have to offer.”

Andrew Comben, Chief Executive of Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival

Brighton Festival commissions and produces an ambitious programme of local, national and international work across music, theatre, dance, visual art, outdoor performance, literature and debates.
