Inua Ellams

Black T-shirt Collection

From Fringe First winner Inua Ellams comes a new story about two foster brothers building a global t-shirt brand. On their journey from a market in Nigeria to a sweatshop in China, Matthew and Muhammed discover the consequences of success.

Inua Ellams was born in Nigeria in 1984, and moved to the UK as a teenager. Inua merges visual art, poetry and theatre, telling stories with iconic imagery, humour and beauty.  The poet and performer who brought us ‘The 14th Tale’ (Edinburgh Fringe First Award, UK tour, National Theatre, Perth Festival 2012, Australia) and ‘Untitled’ (Soho Theatre and UK tour), performs his new work on its first national tour.

‘Black T-shirt Collection’ is produced by Fuel, a producing organisation working in partnership with some of the most exciting theatre artists in the UK to develop, create and present new work for all.

“London’s hottest new spoken word talent.” The Times

“Ellams’ poetry gleams with dusty, worn, deeply original beauty and he remains such wonderfully generous company to keep on stage.” Metro on ‘The 14th Tale’

“Ellams’ poetry is smooth enough to melt in the ear, yet packed full of snap, crackle and pop.” Time Out on ‘The 14th Tale’
