Piano Migrations

Kathy Hinde works across different disciplines frequently in collaboration with other practitioners. She has a fascination with the relationship between sound and image alongside combining artforms in new ways.

‘Piano Migrations’ is an installation that transforms the inside of a piano into a kinetic sound sculpture. Videos of birds are projected directly onto the piano and their movements trigger small machines to twitch and flutter on the piano strings. The installation periodically becomes a site for audio-visual performances.

‘Piano Migrations’ has been successfully shown in many contexts including theatres, galleries, film festivals, concert halls, and live art festivals.

“…Kathy Hinde’s video is brilliant and often beautiful…” The Guardian on ‘Piccard in Space.’

“…Intensely watchable show…” The Wire Magazine
