caravan 2016, 15 – 17 May
caravan is an initiative that aims to strengthen the international networks and expand the range of opportunities for performing artists and companies in England to work abroad.

We had over 200 applications and the final selection was made by the caravan curatorial group. Selection was made according to a number of factors including:
quality of theatrical experience, clarity of ambition, suitability for international working, availability of venue and diversity of audience and scale.

The 2016 programme included performances from: Lost Dog’s Edinburgh Festival hit Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me), new work from Spymonkey and Greg Wohead, Of Riders and Running Horses by Still House, alongside work from Eric MacLennan, Andy Field, Christopher Brett Bailey, Dickie Beau, Jo Bannon, Emma Frankland, Selina Thompson and Sue MacLaine.

Introductions and pitches delivered by: Action Hero, Brian Lobel, Catherine Ireton, Sheila Ghelani, Sleepdogs and The Other Way Works.

Marketplace participants included: Chris Dobrowolski, Dante or Die, Ellie Harrison, FellSwoop Theatre Company Ltd, Flabbergast Theatre, Fuel, Gecko, Greyscale, Ira Brand, Kate O’Donnell, Les Enfants Terribles, Metta Theatre, non zero one, Open Clasp, Rachel Mars, Ria Hartley, RidiculusmusSarah Nicolls, Talawa Theatre Company, The Deaf and Hearing Ensemble (with Erin Siobhan Hutching), The Wrong Crowd, Tim Spooner, Two Destination Language, Ursula Martinez, Vamos Theatre, Victoria Melody and Zest Theatre.
